Learning and Growing in Recovery!

Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn.
(Benjamin Franklin)

Ignorance is lack of understanding, not being aware, not knowing, or not being informed. Ignorance is being in the dark! Knowledge is power and light.
When I was in the Navy, I worked on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. I was told constantly to keep my head on a swivel during flight operations. The flight deck environment could be very dangerous. If I was not careful, informed, and aware, I could be “sucked up” into a jet engine or blown overboard by jet exhaust. I had to be aware constantly of my surroundings. I was informed by training and experience of the dangerous and dynamic flight deck environment. I had to know what to expect and what to do to stay safe and alive. Ignorance in this environment could get me killed fast.
Staying clean and sober involves knowledge, awareness, and understanding also. I must stay vigilant at all times because the monkey can quickly jump on my back! The important thing for me is to keep learning and growing in recovery with an ever deepening knowledge of myself.

What is the one thing that you can start doing and the one thing you can stop doing to improve yourself today?
